Healthy soils, resilient farms, thriving communities
The Green Valley Agro Initiative was founded in 2014 by agronomists, extension officers and cooperative leaders who saw smallholder farms struggling with degraded soils, erratic water supply and fragmented markets.
We operate as a registered non-profit organization working across the green valley region. Our approach is deliberately long-term: we measure success in soil organic matter, in youth returning to viable family farms, and in cooperatives that can negotiate and invest on their own.
Every intervention starts from soil health. If the land cannot hold water and carbon, nothing else stands.
We fund and train local coordinators rather than parachuting in outside staff. Communities own the projects.
Field data, plot trials and honest reporting guide what we scale — and what we retire.
Today the initiative works with 32 active projects, 1,240 participating households and 14 research and extension partners across the region.
